Fagali Airport Boosts Air Travel in Samoa

Fagali Airport is a small private airstrip (670 meters or 2,198 feet in length) on the island of Upolu in Samoa. It is currently owned by the Government of Samoa but was previously co-owned by Polynesian Airlines. Fagali Airport’s respective IATA and ICAO codes are FGI and NSFI. The airport is located next to the Royal Samoa Golf Course in Fagali’i-Uta, approximately 5 kilometers southeast of Apia, the capital of Samoa.

Fagali Airport primarily serves in the daytime. Nighttime flights are handled by the nearby Faleolo International Airport, which is about a 5-minute drive away, located in Apia. Polynesian Airlines purchased an additional DHC-6 Twin Otter to provide more inter-island route support. Current routes include service to Pago Pago and Savai’i of American Samoa and weekly service to the Ofu-Olosega Islands. Visit cheapflights.com for more info.

Some of the airlines that have operated from the Fagali Airport include Samoa Air, Polynesian Airlines, South Pacific Island Airways, and Talofa Airways. Currently, it appears as though only Polynesian and Talofa Airways operate from Fagali. The third primary airline of the nation, Samoa Air, has appeared to cease operations. There have been no updates from the company since 2015. While Talofa Airways began operations in 2016, it is unclear if the two companies are related.

Though it is currently operational, Fagali Aiport has had a number of closures. In January 2002 the runway reopened after it was paved, a renovation from a previous grass-only airstrip. In January 2005 until July 2009, it was closed again, this time over concerns regarding noise and safety for the residents of the island. Its reopening included a grand ceremony, news coverage, and commentary from Polynesian Airline general manager Brent Schwenke.

The approximately 1,500 residents of Fagali’i offered a variety of feedback on the operations and closures of the airport, ranging from support for the island’s economy to criticism of the airport’s environmental impact. BRINGING NEW IDEAS TO THE ARCHITECTURAL FIELD THROUGH THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS

The founding of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) back in 1857 was one of the best things that happened to the architectural industry in the United States. The organisation which has its headquarters in Washington DC was founded with the aim of bringing improvements to the construction industry as well as changing the tainted image of the sector. At the time of its founding, people viewed the construction industry as one which was lowly and meant for those that couldn’t find better jobs. This perception made a high number of people run away from construction courses leaving only a few to study for the course. Also, many institutions did not offer the course since there was little demand for it. Visit at DC Meetings to know more about  AIA.

Initially, only thirteen architects were in the organisation. The number of members has since increased over the years due to changes in people’s perception towards the industry. The society now appreciates the good work that architects do daily. If it were not for them, the professionally designed buildings that we see today would not exist. They are responsible for the numerous developments found in different cities in the United States as well as other parts of the world. Some of the names that were involved in founding the organisation include Henry W. Cleaveland, Henry Dudley, Richard M. Upjohn, Fred A. Petersen, Edward Gardiner, Joseph C, Wells and Leopold Eidlitz.

The American Institute of Architects increased its intensity when they appointed Robert Ivy as the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of the agency in February 2011. The decision has proved to be a great one. Since his appointment as the leader at American Institute of Architects, he has helped the agency make several strides. Under his leadership, more professionals have joined AIA over the years making it one of the most successful construction organisations in and out of the USA. For his many efforts, Robert Ivy has received several recognitions. In 1998, he was gifted the Management Excellence in McGraw Hill Award and later in 2009 awarded the Crain Award from the American Business Media. His excellent performance also saw him become named the Master Architect by the National Architect Fraternity. Learn more about Robert Ivy at Steel Institute of New York

Robert Ivy studied at the Sewanee University of the South where he attained a Bachelor of Arts in English degree. He later attended Tulane University to pursue an interest that he had in construction and got out of the institution with a Master’s degree in Architecture. Before becoming the head at AIA, he worked at Architectural Records and the McGraw Hill Construction Media. Apart from his work with AIA, Robert has also written a construction book called Fay Jones: Architect. The book was identified as one of the best architectural pieces by The Library of North America. Robert ivy will be remembered for decades to come for his contributions to the architectural industry.

The American Institute of Architects Continues to Set a High Standard for the Profession

Headquartered in Washington, DC, the American Institute of Architects is over 90,000 members strong, and currently has over 260 chapters worldwide. The organization was founded in 1857 by 13 architects. The agency currently works to provide member architects with the knowledge, tools, and contacts to advance their careers.

There are a number of topics that AIA focuses on. These include building codes, careers, communities, matters of design, global practices, sustainability concerns, and the entire business of architecture. It was in 1966 that Robert Ivy became the organization’s Editor in Chief. He is responsible for helping grow the world’s most widely read journal on architecture.

He is currently the CEO of AIA. He feels that today’s architect is in the process of expanding their abilities and offerings. They have a great deal of potential. They may even take on the role of becoming “creative consultants” that offer advice to a range of industries as time goes on. Their expanded roles may help spur demand for design and building. Even business schools across the nation are beginning to embrace the concepts and benefits of design thinking. At best, architects will develop new skills and insights to solve problems in creative ways.

During 2018, some of the country’s most creative and talented architects will represent their firms in New York City. The conference will take place on June 21-23, 2018.

Under Ivy’s leadership, the public is far more aware of the AIA’s mission now as well. The organization has a sterling reputation for being responsive, proactive, and influential in the building industry. Perhaps, it’s most notable accomplishment is that the public is much more aware of an architect’s relevance. AIA is also instrumental in helping architects address climate change and its impact on public health.

Robert Ivy is a wise and soft-spoken person who can elaborate on any subject dealing with architecture. From urban architecture innovations to software programs to assist architectural design, he is an individual with an ability to tie it all together. Architecture is far beyond simply designing and building. AIA encourages architects to think far beyond any confines and to bring creativity to their field and area of expertise. Ivy does an excellent job. Under his leadership, the organization should continue to grow and thrive.

It’s easy to find affordable Samoan flight deals that fly to the Fagali’I Airport

The airport is located in the Southwestern Pacific Ocean. It once consisted of just mowed grass airstrips. In the past, it was decommissioned because of the sound of the airplanes. Nearly a decade ago it was re-opened. It’s become a popular flight destination for people interested in visiting Fagali’I, Upola island, or any of the Samoan islands. The airport is roughly 2500 miles from Brisbane, Australia, and 2600 miles south-southwest of Hawaii, United States. Fagali’I’s population is roughly 1700. The airport’s main partners are Polynesian Airlines and Samoa Air. It’s also a typical stop for travelers flying to Pago Pago.

We found several deals to fly to the Fagali’I Airport in January. At Cheapoair.com we found round-trip tickets leaving California for about $1000.00 United States Dollars. On Expedia.com we also found from California round-trip air, with 16-day hotel stay starting at $1195 for one person’s flights and hotel stay! It’s a great luxury destination that is also affordable for people on any budget.

The Fagali’I Airport provides access to a lot of great tourist destinations and activities. Some of our favorites Samoan tourism hotspots include:

  • The Samoan islands have world-renowned surfing beaches. Just be careful there can be big pacific ocean waves.
  • Fagali’I is the perfect destination to start a boat trip. There are hundreds of islands scattered for hundreds of miles around the Samoas. Depending on the season you could take a boat trip to Hawaii, or Australia.
